Brief it well
JuriBase AI works from a written brief. Your input determines what it searches for, not just how the answer is worded.
What a good brief contains
Include these four things:
- The forum. High Court at Milimani, the ELC at Nakuru, the tribunal.
- Which side you act for. The advice changes with it.
- The facts that carry the point. Dates, what was served and how, what your client knew and when.
- What you want back. A reasoned answer, submissions to a named structure, a review of an attached affidavit.
The facts do the heavy lifting. Brief it on an ex parte judgment where leave for substituted service rested on an affidavit giving an address the client had left four years earlier, and it searches for authority on service that was never good. A bare question of law returns the general line.
Early in a run, it writes what it understood into the matter's file (Recording a matter fact — Our client is the defendant...). If it takes a fact wrongly, correct it in your next message.
Attach the papers
The paperclip takes PDF and Word documents, up to five per question, 64 MB each. It reads them in full.
Attached documents are used only inside the chat you attached them to.
Narrowing the search
Write a court, a period, or a named judicial officer into the question to shape the search:
Court of Appeal authorities only, and nothing before 2015.
Asking about a judicial officer
Ask in the box, naming the officer:
Give me insights into how Justice Chigiti handles the doctrine of exhaustion.
Standing instructions
Custom Instructions, at the foot of the sidebar, applies the same instruction to every response. Use it for citation style, register, or firm conventions. Put matter-specific facts in the brief.
Uploaded drafting templates are read automatically when drafting to match your style.
It may ask before it acts
If an instruction is ambiguous, it will ask a question. Answer in the same chat. It applies the answer and keeps it for the rest of the matter.
Refine, don't restart
To change a draft, state the changes in the same chat. It opens the existing document and revises it. Starting a new chat discards the matter file and restarts the research.
